Ruth Childre Artist Statement: “I am at heart a landscape painter. It is my first love. I especially love any kind moving water- perhaps it is the freedom of movement, unrestrained, unfettered, that attracts. And I try to paint that with which I am familiar, the Hill Country around San Antonio, although I enjoy sketching surrounding areas also.” “Painting is the essence of something you want to share with others. It’s a communication at its highest level with no language barrier. Regardless of approach, my painting, ultimately depends on what I am experiencing while I paint. I exercise control, but I utilize accidents and rely on intuition. I am always looking for the beauty in simple and ordinary things.”
