    Metz Castleberry (1929-2017)

    Metz Castleberry

Metz Castleberry was born and raised in Oklahoma, and has spent much of his life there, studying at the University of Tulsa and at Eastern New Mexico University. He now makes his home north of Weatherford, Texas, where he keeps his studio in addition to a bronze foundry to cast his sculptures. Castleberry is noted particularly for his Western sculpture, composing active scenes illustrating real, but rarely seen, situations. His work possesses a kinetic quality, an aura of life and motion, that make his bronzes prized pieces in numerous collections. Owners of his work include the King Ranch, Governor John Connally, and the estate of President Lyndon Johnson. Castleberry has been featured in several one man shows in San Antonio, Houston and Austin, and his sculpture has shown in nearly every prominent gallery in the Southwest.
